Resources

Tools we’d actually recommend.

Banks first. Marketplaces when speed matters more than price. Never a daily-payment product.

Our standard

Nothing is listed here that the book itself warns against, no matter what it pays.

Bookkeeping

Recommended

QuickBooks · accounting software

Clean books are the cheapest interest-rate reduction you will ever buy (Chapter 2). A monthly close on real accounting software is how you get there, and how you hand a lender current numbers in a day.

Payroll

Recommended

ADP · payroll and HR

Payroll is usually the biggest, least flexible line in your 13-week forecast (Chapter 4). Running it on a dedicated service keeps tax filings current, and a lender will ask whether they are.

Business insurance

Recommended

Simply Business · small-business insurance quotes

Lenders typically require insurance on anything you pledge as collateral (Chapter 7). Comparing policies before you apply keeps proof of coverage from delaying your closing.

Comparing loan offers

Recommended

Lendio · loan marketplace

A marketplace shows several lenders at once. Useful when speed matters more than price, the tradeoff Chapter 6 names. Ask every offer for the all-in annual rate in writing, and walk away from daily-payment products.

PayPal LoanBuilder · online term loans

Faster than a bank, usually more expensive. Get the total repayment in writing and run it through the Chapter 6 cost comparator before you sign.

SBA loans

Start with your own bank’s SBA department or an SBA Preferred Lender in your area. Chapter 6 explains how 7(a) and 504 loans work, and Chapter 8 walks through the application.
